There are distinct advantages to this design.  This collar is designed to be placed around the dog’s neck.  It has a floating ring for its snap bolt to attach to. The leash is then attached to the static ring.  This can benefit in two ways.  First, you can achieve a more perfect fit and secondly, it can be easier to put on the dog than sliding the collar over the dog’s head.

The nylon collar looks nice and operates quietly.  I think of it as being a little milder than the chain slip collar.
